I was searching the net this morning thinking about next week’s meals. I am always one for cheap easy, but good and hearty meals and well I am just not that creative on my own so I search for things others have tried. Last week searching for healthy meals I find that no one knows how to make a healthy meals with flavor……………..Come on healthy doesn’t mean bland! (see my rant on my last post) so this week I switched to quick meals. I am literally laughing so hard my dog gets concerned I may have a heart attack either that or he was waiting for me to kill over so he can raid the dog treats in the pantry without getting yelled out. Either way the quick meals, yeah they literally take a jar of spaghetti sauce and pour over frozen cutlets and add a slice of cheese. Easy yeah but come on. There was one that combined a soup, a canned veggie and a canned bean. really now? I am lazy but this was totally wickedly lazy. even prior to being gluten-free I would not have stooped that low. Yes I have opened a can of chili and poured it over a hot dog on a premade piece of bread, but that’s once in a while when I am just out of choices or am sick or busy. definitely not all the time! I went through about 20 of the meals before I couldnt’ take no more. My side ached from laughing and from the crap that was in these dishes. Do people really eat this way all the time? Just for those of you who do not have the time to cook, a crock pot is a wonderful invention and you can make a homemade meal for your family nightly. One of the websites I go to a lot is 365 days of crockpotting. Its awesome.
so my morning was useless, no recipes to try out but I am hoping to have a couple of keepers to post soon. Trying a dish Saturday that I think will be a winner.
If laughter really is the best medicine I just had a full check up!
ROFL!!!! Yes they actually eat that way. The New Betty Crocker cookbook actually has some of those recipes in it.
Found this site today http://www.slowcookerfromscratch.com/
back when my momma cooked from Betty Crocker it was all from scratch, thanks for the
recipies, I love my slow cooker.
Yeah. My mom used the 1950 Betty Crocker and they are from scratch recipes but in the newer ones there are most recipes that use something from a can, box, bag, prepared stuff.
I love mine too. Even made a gluten free cake in it last week. It did use a Betty Crocker Gluten Free cake mix but it worked and was really good.
