Although I like the tradition salt cracker these can have different flavors added to make a more savory cracker such as rosemary and thyme.
4 cups gluten free flour (I use Tom Sawyer flour) ~ 1 & 1/2 tsp baking powder ~ 3/4 cup shortening ~ 1/3 cup skim milk (have also used almond or coconut milk) ~ 1 cup water ~ Salt, black pepper, or any spice you desire
Preheat oven to 375F. Mix flour, baking powder, and cut in the shortening until mixture has a consistency of coarse meal. Add liquid and stir to form a dough. Add liquid slowly and gauge if you will need less or more. Roll dough very thin, and cut into squares with a cookie cutter for saltine shaped crackers or use cookie cutters. place them carefully on a cookie sheet and prick with a fork and add seasoning. I like coarser sea salt. Bake about 6-7 minutes.
