This is my most favorite drink of all times. Growing up my momma would treat us to an orange Julius at the mall. In my adult years I still enjoy them but oh the calorie count on them is mind boggling. I whipped up my own version one day and it has become my daily drink of choice. The kiefer keeps me full all morning and the orange is a healthy dose of Vitamin C. Plain kiefer is hard to fine these days, not sure if they stopped making it but vanilla kiefer works well too.
I use regular dairy kiefer now as well since I have incorporated dairy back into my diet again.
Warning: If you not maintain a sugar free diet the stevia will probably taste bitter. I would suggest adding a sweetener such as agave, organic sugar, or your favorite sugar substitute. It doesn’t take much to sweeten this especially if you have added a good quality sweet orange.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Plain Oh So Delicious coconut Kefier
- 1 organic orange, medium sized
- 2 packages of Stevia in the raw
- a few ice cubes makes this a really cold yummy treat.
Instructions
- put in blender and blend until smooth. sugar free, yummy healthful benefits of probiotics and the best thing is this will keep your tummy full for hours. I use it on days I am running around and know I won't be able to get home til later to eat lunch.
- Variations: some readers have been adding a little vanilla protein powder or other supplements with great results. some like lots of ice some just a little. easy recipe to play with and bulk up with extras.
