Dang Toasted Coconut Chips

I received a sample of Dang toasted coconut chips and let me tell you……I was blown away.

Dang is the name of the product, but it is also the name of the founder’s mother.     The story is Dang (mom) asked Vincent  to make a recipe that required toasted coconut.  when he made it, he was blown away (like me) by the fantastic flavor.  He started selling it at local markets.  Everyone else loved them so he started a company and name it Dang as a homage to him mom.

Let me tell you a few things about this product.

When I initially saw the product I let it sit in my pantry for a few weeks.  Just wasn’t feeling toasted coconut.  I was thinking little slivers that would be hard to eat.   more of a topping than a snack.   But curiosity got the best of me and I opened it up.  My first reaction was this looked just like a toenail clipping I got from our local famous elephant at the zoo which I have kept for years on my dresser.   Gross thought but that’s what they looked like.

I fully expected it to be hard and crunchy and not edible but I was wrong!

I literally did not want to stop eating these.  This is a snack you will never see me sharing.  No way no how, if I have a bag of them, they are mine.   They were soft but crunchy, they were sweet but savory and meaty, they were toasty and flavorful and just texturally perfect.   they made my mouth water as I ate them and I even opened the bag to get every last bit of it.

It has been a long time since a snack has seduced me in such a way as these did.   I kept saying in my head, Dang.   Dang,   Dang these are good.   I thought perhaps that is where the name came from but then I found the story.   but they are still Dang good.

The small 1.43 package was a tease.   it says 2 servings which I laugh at because its a mini portion for me.   I could down 5 or 6 of these in a day.    With the ingredients being coconut, cane sugar, salt I wouldn’t want to every day but I warn you, open a bag and you won’t want to stop.

They are that Dang good.

all thumbs up for these snacks, even with the cane sugar and salt.
