My heart literally skipped a beat when I heard that Pizza hut would be offering gluten free pizza and not only offering it but certifying its gluten free which is important because some places offer but don’t go extra lengths to make sure its safe and its majorly cross contaminated. That’s okay for someone with gluten intolerance but not someone with celiac disease.
Now back 9 years ago when we use to get pizza delivered it was usually pizza hut. thick crust of yummy goodness but the big point here was delivered! Did you catch that? Its not the pizza I miss, I can and do make pizza all the time at home. I have to since me and my son stay gluten/dairy/soy free. (yes I cheat with dairy sometimes but not often) so making pizza is easy and well if I wanted to I could mass produce them and freeze them.
But thinking back on my fast food/delivery days, what I wouldn’t give for convenience of this again. Family is hungry I am tired or sick or both (I am a mom) how cool would it be just to call and say hey give me a pizza and make it gluten free. My heart just fluttered again and when I really think about it why is that? Is delivery that important? No not really but you know what it makes me feel a little more normal to have that option of just picking up the phone and calling and getting something delivered that is safe for me to eat.
Yes the feeling of normalness is what I miss most with my food allergies…………the ability to say lets just go out to eat since its late and we are tired and still have 20 minutes til home. Lets just grab some food and bring it home to make it easy. Lets order out!
I don’t know if pizza hut in Alaska (I know the chances are slim) will be one of the branches offering it but if they are I will be the first caller for sure! I hate how other states always get things first and then when it fails it never makes it to Alaska. So many times I have see this so let cross our fingers and toes and hope that Alaska will see this amazing offering.
Thank you Pizza Hut in advance even if I never do get to taste your yummy pizzas again.
